- Is Service Cloud Consultant being renamed to Agentforce Service Consultant?
- Yes. On July 24, 2026 the Salesforce Certified Service Cloud Consultant credential becomes the Salesforce Certified Agentforce Service Consultant. It is one of 16 certifications Salesforce is renaming that day to match current product naming. The change is cosmetic: exam content does not change, you do not re-earn anything, and Trailblazer profiles update automatically. Your study plan is unaffected, though your resume wording is not.
- What is the passing score for the Service Cloud Consultant exam?
- The official passing score is 78 percent for the English version and 67 percent for the Japanese version, as published in the live Salesforce exam guide. Most prep sites get this wrong. The widely repeated 67 percent is the Japanese score quoted as if it were universal, and 63 percent comes from the outdated 2018 study guide PDF that Salesforce still hosts. If you test in English, 78 percent is your bar.
- How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?
- There are 60 scored multiple-choice questions plus up to five unscored questions, and you get 105 minutes. Registration is US$200 plus tax and a retake is US$100 plus tax. It is proctored either at a testing center or online, no reference materials are permitted, and it is offered in English and Japanese only.
- Do I need the Salesforce Admin certification first?
- Yes. The Salesforce Platform Administrator certification is a prerequisite, so you must hold it before earning this credential. The exam assumes admin-level fluency and tests the layer above it: designing and implementing a contact center. Salesforce also recommends two to five years of professional consulting or implementation experience on top of the certification requirement.
- Why do different sites list different exam topics?
- Because Salesforce still hosts a 2018 edition of the study guide for download while the live exam guide has moved on. The old PDF lists nine sections including a 15 percent Service Console section, and references retired branding like Live Agent and Process Builder. The current guide has eight sections and no standalone Service Console section. Prep sites that copied the PDF are teaching an outline that is years out of date.
- Which is harder, Sales Cloud or Service Cloud Consultant?
- Service Cloud Consultant is generally considered the harder of the two, and the published passing scores support that: it requires 78 percent in English, while Salesforce does not headline a score for Sales Cloud Consultant. Service Cloud also spreads weight more evenly across eight sections, so you cannot lean on one strong area. Both require the Administrator certification and share the same 60-question, 105-minute, US$200 format.
- Does the exam cover AI and Agentforce?
- Yes. The current exam guide explicitly asks candidates to recommend appropriate uses for AI agents in the customer service process and to explain agentic service capabilities, use cases, and configuration. Case deflection is now framed around Experience Cloud sites, Agentforce, and Knowledge. This is genuinely new content that no 2018-era study material covers, and it is a common reason candidates are caught out.
