Two things most Business Analyst prep material gets wrong. First, the passing score. Salesforce publishes 72 percent in its own exam guide, yet a great many prep sites and AI-generated summaries repeat 65 percent, sometimes as "39 out of 60". Preparing against 65 percent puts you about four questions below the real bar. Second, the domain weights. An older outline still circulates in which Customer Discovery is 28 percent and User Acceptance is only 4 percent. In the current guide, Customer Discovery is 17 percent and Development Support and User Acceptance is 12 percent, three times its old weight. Both versions add up to 100 percent, which is exactly why the stale one goes unnoticed.

Most Salesforce exams do not publish a passing score at all. Business Analyst does, and Salesforce states 72 percent in the exam guide. That makes the widely repeated 65 percent figure unusually damaging, because it is specific enough to sound authoritative and low enough to change how you prepare.

What the gap costs you

On 60 scored questions, 72 percent means roughly 43 correct. The 65 percent claim works out to about 39. Someone who trains to a comfortable margin above 39 can walk in feeling ready and still fail. That is a four-question gap created entirely by bad secondhand information.

How to use the number properly

Treat 72 percent as the floor, not the target. Aim to score in the mid-80s on your own practice sets before booking, because performance drops under proctored conditions. Track accuracy per domain rather than overall, since a weak showing in a 23 percent domain hurts far more than the same slip in a 12 percent one.

Worth knowing too: the credential is not a one-time achievement. Salesforce requires an annual maintenance module on Trailhead to keep it active.
