The Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist exam (formerly AI Specialist, exam code AI-201) has 60 scored questions plus up to five unscored, runs 105 minutes, costs US$200 (US$100 to retake), and requires 72 percent to pass. It has no prerequisite certification. The current outline, aligned to the Spring 26 release, has six sections: AI Agents (35%), Prompt Engineering (20%), Data 360 Fundamentals (20%), Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance (10%), Governance and Observability (10%), and Multi-Agent Orchestration (5%). AI Agents alone is more than a third of the exam.

Last updated July 2026

AI Specialist and Agentforce Specialist are the same certification. Salesforce renamed the AI Specialist credential to Agentforce Specialist in March 2025, keeping the exam code AI-201 and requiring no retake from existing holders. Many candidates still search AI Specialist, so both names point to this one exam. One important distinction: do not confuse it with the AI Associate, a separate entry-level credential that Salesforce retired in February 2026. If a study guide still uses the AI Specialist name or refers to Einstein Copilot, it predates both the rename and the current outline.

The passing score is 72 percent, not 73. The live Salesforce exam guide states 72 percent. A large share of prep sites, including well-known ones, quote 73 percent, which appears to be the value from an earlier version of the exam. It is a small difference, but on a 60-question exam it is the margin of roughly one question, so study to the current 72 percent bar and aim comfortably above it.

What the current Agentforce Specialist exam tests

Six sections, and unlike the evenly weighted consultant exams, this one is top-heavy. AI Agents is more than a third of the score on its own, and the top three sections carry 75 percent between them. If you are short on time, that is where the time goes. Here is what each section actually asks.

Section Weight What is actually in it
AI Agents35%Building and configuring agents in Agent Builder: agent types (service, sales, employee), standard and custom topics and actions, and how the Atlas Reasoning Engine decides what an agent does. The core of the exam.
Prompt Engineering20%Prompt Builder, prompt template types, and grounding techniques that feed real Salesforce data into a prompt so the model answers from your org rather than from thin air.
Data 360 Fundamentals20%How Data 360, formerly Data Cloud, grounds agents: data libraries, chunking and indexing unstructured content, and retrievers using keyword, vector, or hybrid search. Renamed from Data Cloud for Agentforce.
Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance10%Testing agent behavior before release, moving agents between environments, and keeping them working as topics and actions evolve.
Governance and Observability10%The Einstein Trust Layer, the Agent User and its permissions, and monitoring what agents actually did. Split into its own section in the current guide, where older outlines folded it elsewhere.
Multi-Agent Orchestration5%How multiple agents coordinate and hand work between each other. The smallest section, and the newest, so prep material for it is thin.

Weights from the current Salesforce exam guide, aligned to the Spring 26 release, and they total 100 percent. An older five-section version omits Governance and Observability as a standalone section, so confirm the live guide before booking.

With AI Agents at 35 percent, that section is non-negotiable, and Prompt Engineering plus Data 360 round out the three that decide the exam. Generate practice questions from your own Agentforce notes so you can measure section by section rather than guessing where you stand.

The outline problem: five sections versus six

This exam moves fast, and a lot of prep material has not kept up. The most common mistake is studying a five-section outline that predates two changes: the Data Cloud to Data 360 rename, and the split of governance into its own weighted section. Even some Trailhead prep unit names still use the older labels. Here is how to tell current from stale at a glance.

Governance and ObservabilityFolded into other sectionsStandalone section at 10%
Lifecycle sectionDevelopment Lifecycle 20%Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance 10%
Assistant brandingEinstein CopilotAgentforce
Passing score quoted73%72%

The naming matters beyond trivia. If your notes call the assistant Einstein Copilot, they are using a term Salesforce officially replaced with Agentforce, and the exam will not. When you generate practice questions, use the most current material you have so the terminology and the section weights line up with what you will actually see.

Agent Builder and grounding are the heart of the exam

Two skills carry most of the score. The first is building agents in Agent Builder: choosing an agent type, wiring up topics and the actions under them, and understanding how the Atlas Reasoning Engine picks a path through them. The second is grounding: using Prompt Builder and Data 360 retrievers so an agent answers from your real data instead of guessing. Everything else, from testing to trust, sits around those two.

Where candidates lose marks

Topics and actions confuse people who expect flows. A topic groups what an agent can help with, and actions are what it can do inside that topic. Scenario questions often hinge on choosing standard versus custom actions, so practice reasoning about both.

The trust layer is examinable

Governance is now its own section. Expect questions on the Einstein Trust Layer, what the Agent User can and cannot access, and how to monitor agent behavior after go-live. Security is not an afterthought on this exam.

Because Data 360 grounding is a fifth of the exam, the Salesforce Data Cloud Consultant practice exam pairs well if you want to go deeper on the data side, and the Salesforce Administrator practice exam covers the platform fluency Salesforce recommends before this one.

How to build Agentforce Specialist practice questions that reinforce the exam

A top-heavy exam rewards depth on the big three sections. Build your question sets to match the weights.

1
Check your material first
Search your notes for Einstein Copilot, Data Cloud for Agentforce, or a 73 percent passing score. Any of them means you are holding pre-rename material and should refresh it before generating questions.
2
Load up on AI Agents
At 35 percent, AI Agents deserves the most questions. Focus on Agent Builder, topics and actions, agent types, and how the reasoning engine chooses among them.
3
Practice grounding
Prompt Engineering and Data 360 are 40 percent combined. Write questions on prompt templates, grounding, retrievers, and when a keyword, vector, or hybrid retriever is the right choice.
4
Do not skip governance
The Trust Layer, Agent User permissions, and observability are their own section now. Build a handful of questions here so a governance scenario does not surprise you.

Agentforce Specialist questions, answered

Is the Salesforce AI Specialist certification the same as Agentforce Specialist?
Yes. Salesforce renamed the AI Specialist certification to the Agentforce Specialist in March 2025, and it is the same credential with the same exam code, AI-201. Holders of the old AI Specialist certification did not need to retake anything. Many people still search AI Specialist, so it is a valid alias, but the current official name is Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist. Do not confuse it with the AI Associate, a separate entry-level credential that Salesforce retired in February 2026.
What is the passing score for the Agentforce Specialist exam?
The current official passing score is 72 percent, as stated in the live Salesforce exam guide. You will see many prep sites quote 73 percent, which appears to be the value from an earlier version of the exam. If you are studying now, plan for 72 percent as your bar. Combined with 60 scored questions, that means you can miss roughly 16 questions and still pass, though a comfortable margin is the safer target.
How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?
There are 60 scored multiple-choice and multiple-select questions plus up to five unscored questions, and you get 105 minutes. Registration is US$200 plus tax and a retake is US$100 plus tax. It is proctored either at a testing center or online, and it is offered in English, French, and Japanese. Some older snippets say 90 minutes, but the current exam guide states 105.
Do I need a prerequisite certification first?
No. The Agentforce Specialist exam has no required prerequisite certification, so you can book it directly. Salesforce recommends holding the Administrator and Platform App Builder credentials and having hands-on Agentforce experience, but neither is enforced. In practice, admin-level fluency with the platform makes the AI Agents and Data 360 sections far easier to reason about.
What does the exam cover?
The current six-section outline covers AI Agents (35 percent, the largest by far), Prompt Engineering (20 percent), Data 360 Fundamentals (20 percent), Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance (10 percent), Governance and Observability (10 percent), and Multi-Agent Orchestration (5 percent). Topics include Agent Builder, agent types, topics and actions, the Atlas Reasoning Engine, Prompt Builder, grounding with Data 360 retrievers, and the Einstein Trust Layer.
Why do different sites list different exam sections?
Because an older five-section outline is still widely published, even in some Trailhead prep unit names. It lists Data Cloud for Agentforce and Development Lifecycle rather than the current Data 360 Fundamentals and the split-out Governance and Observability section. The current Spring 26 guide has six sections. If your material still says Data Cloud for Agentforce or Einstein Copilot, it predates the current exam and the Agentforce rebrand.
