- How many questions are on the PANCE?
- The PANCE has 300 multiple choice questions, delivered in five blocks of 60 questions with 60 minutes for each block. The testing day also includes a short tutorial and 45 minutes of break time that you spend between blocks. Every question is single best answer, and the exam no longer uses K type or negatively worded items.
- What is a passing score on the PANCE?
- PANCE results are reported on a scaled score from 200 to 800, and the passing score is 350. Because the score is scaled, there is no fixed number of questions you must get right; the scale adjusts for small differences in difficulty between exam forms. Aim for consistent performance across every organ system rather than a target raw percentage.
- How many times can you take the PANCE?
- You can take the PANCE up to six times within six years of completing your PA program. That limit is why most candidates treat the first attempt as the one that counts and spend months on practice questions beforehand, starting with their own program material and finishing with a full length question bank.
- How many questions are on PA rotation exams?
- Each PAEA End of Rotation exam has 120 multiple choice questions, of which 100 are scored and 20 are unscored pilot items. You get two hours, split into two one hour sessions, and scores are reported on a 300 to 500 scale. There are seven core rotation exams, from family medicine to behavioral and mental health.
- Can AI make PANCE practice questions?
- Yes. AI can write PANCE style questions, and the useful tools write them from material you supply rather than from general internet text. PDFQuiz reads your PA program lecture slides, notes or a review chapter and returns single best answer clinical vignettes with an explanation for each answer and a separate answer key, all grounded in the file you uploaded.
- How do I make PANCE practice questions from my lecture notes?
- Upload the lecture deck or notes, choose single choice as the question type, set the difficulty to hard so the stems become patient presentations, and switch on explanations. Then review each item: one defensible answer, distractors drawn from the same lecture, and a lead in that asks for the most likely diagnosis, the next step or the best treatment.
- Is a PANCE question bank better than making your own questions?
- For the final months before the PANCE, a commercial question bank is the better buy, because its items are written and reviewed by clinicians and mapped to the NCCPA blueprint. Making your own questions wins earlier, during didactic courses and rotations, when the next exam is built from your own program's lectures and no outside bank knows what your faculty emphasized.
- Can PA program faculty use it to write exam questions?
- Yes. Faculty generate a draft set from a lecture, keep the strongest vignettes, and export the questions and the answer key as separate PDF or Word files, or as CSV for an exam platform. Generating from the same lecture again gives an alternate form for a makeup exam. Paid plans unlock exports and higher limits; see the pricing page for current plans.
