Exam MS-700: Managing Microsoft Teams is the exam for the Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate certification, with a published passing score of 700, 100 minutes on the exam clock, and a free official practice assessment on Microsoft Learn. It is top-heavy: configure and manage a Teams environment is worth 40 to 45 percent, covering network planning, security and compliance, governance, external collaboration, and Teams devices. A refreshed outline takes effect July 29, 2026, and the official change log grades every listed change Minor or No change, so it is a tune-up, not a rewrite. There is no prerequisite exam, and the certification is one of four associates that qualify you for the Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert path.

What the MS-700 exam tests from July 29, 2026

We read the official skills-measured outline on Microsoft Learn the way we do for every certification page on this site. In the roughly 940-word outline, the word policy appears 24 times and identify licensing requirements appears five times, once in nearly every corner of the exam. MS-700 is a policy and licensing exam wearing a collaboration badge.

Domain What is actually in it Weight
Configure and manage a Teams environmentNearly half the exam. Network planning with bandwidth calculations, Network planner, ports and protocols, and the Teams Network Assessment Tool. Security and compliance: Defender for Office 365 threat policies, retention, sensitivity labels, Purview DLP, Conditional Access, Information Barriers. Governance: policy packages, group creation, expiration and naming policies, Entra Access reviews, PowerShell and Microsoft Graph. External collaboration: guest access across four admin centers, shared channels, B2B direct connect, multitenant organizations. Plus Teams Rooms, device profiles and Teams for VDI.40 to 45%
Manage teams, channels, chats, and appsCreating teams five different ways (admin center, client, PowerShell, Graph, from an existing group or template), template policies, membership and roles, frontline teams, privacy and sensitivity settings. Channel strategy: standard vs private vs shared, channel policies, messaging policies. App management: org-wide settings, app setup policies, permissions and consent, blocking apps, store customization and custom app upload.20 to 25%
Manage meetings and callingMeeting types (appointments, webinars, town halls, standard meetings), meeting settings including Microsoft 365 Copilot, meeting templates and policies, event settings. Then the part that decides careers: Teams Phone. Provisioning phone numbers for users, services and conferencing bridges, voice policies, voicemail policies, auto attendants, call queues and calling policies.15 to 20%
Monitor, report on, and troubleshoot TeamsCall quality and meeting quality monitoring, alert rules, usage reporting from team activity to storage, guest-access reporting, the Microsoft 365 network connectivity test tool. Troubleshooting: audio and video issues, client-side logs, clearing the Teams client cache, self-help diagnostics, sign-in issues, and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI experiences in Teams.15 to 20%

If your study material spends equal time on all four domains, it is fighting the blueprint. Build questions that match the weights instead: generate practice questions from your own Teams notes and let the environment domain dominate the set the way it dominates the exam.

The July 29, 2026 refresh: three Minor edits, nothing Major

Microsoft revised the MS-700 outline effective July 29, 2026, and the change log is calm: security and compliance settings, meetings and events, and monitor and report are each graded Minor, and every other group, including the audience profile, is No change. The four domains and their weights are untouched. That makes MS-700 the quiet sibling in a loud month: MD-102 gets an entirely new automation domain on July 24, 2026, five days before this refresh lands.

Copilot is now exam material

The outline names Microsoft 365 Copilot twice: configuring meeting settings for Copilot, and troubleshooting Copilot and AI experiences in Teams. If you administer Teams but have never touched a Copilot meeting setting, that is a gap the current outline will find.

External access is a maze on purpose

Guest access can be configured from the Teams admin center, Microsoft 365 admin center, Entra admin center or SharePoint admin center, and the outline expects you to know all four, plus shared channels, B2B direct connect and multitenant organizations. Scenario questions live here.

Licensing questions everywhere

Identify licensing requirements appears five times: security and compliance features, lifecycle management, external collaboration, Teams Phone accounts and Teams devices. Knowing which feature needs which license is worth real points across every domain.

Because the refresh is minor, study material written for the 2025 outline is still mostly usable. The safer move is still to generate questions from the current study guide, then confirm readiness on the free official practice assessment before booking.

Why using Teams every day does not pass MS-700

Most candidates have thousands of hours in the Teams client. The exam lives in the admin center, PowerShell and the licensing matrix, places daily users never visit.

What you know as a Teams power user What the exam also expects
You create teams and channels when a project needs oneGroup creation restrictions, naming policies with blocked words, expiration policies, archiving vs deleting, and restoring a deleted Microsoft 365 group
You add external guests to a team when askedGuest access settings across four different admin centers, External Access controlled by domain, shared channels with B2B direct connect, and multitenant organizations
You schedule meetings and the odd webinarMeeting policies vs meeting settings vs customization policies, webinar and town hall configuration, and Copilot meeting settings
You make calls in Teams without thinking about itProvisioning phone numbers for users, services and conferencing bridges, auto attendants, call queues, voicemail policies and Teams Phone licensing
You complain when call quality is badBandwidth planning with Network planner, ports and protocols, QoS, the Teams Network Assessment Tool, call quality monitoring and client-side log collection

Every right-hand cell is a named objective on the July 2026 outline. Generated question drills are the cheapest way to find out which of those you can only half-explain, before the proctored clock is running.

How to build MS-700 practice questions that match the real blueprint

Study to the weights: environment first and always, then teams and apps, then meetings and Teams Phone, then monitoring.

1
Upload current material
The MS-700 study guide, Microsoft Learn modules, or your own notes. If it never mentions shared channels, B2B direct connect, town halls or Copilot settings, check it against the July 2026 outline before trusting it.
2
Overweight the environment domain
Nearly half your questions should come from network planning, security and compliance, governance and external collaboration, because nearly half the exam does. Drill the four-admin-center guest maze until it is boring.
3
Do not skip Teams Phone
Auto attendants, call queues, number provisioning and voice policies feel like a different job, and that is exactly why they separate passers from repeaters. Generate scenario questions until telephony stops feeling foreign.
4
Finish with the official mock
MS-700 has a free official practice assessment on Microsoft Learn. Use generated questions to close gaps domain by domain, then confirm readiness on the official mock before booking.

MS-700 exam questions, answered

What is the MS-700 exam?
Exam MS-700: Managing Microsoft Teams is the exam for the Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate certification. It tests planning, deploying, configuring and managing a Teams environment end to end: chat, teams, channels, apps, meetings, events, calling and Teams Phone. A score of 700 or greater is required to pass, and the study guide is published on Microsoft Learn.
Is MS-700 hard?
It is an intermediate associate exam, and the difficulty concentrates where daily Teams experience runs out. The environment domain alone, worth 40 to 45 percent, spans network bandwidth planning, Purview DLP and retention, governance policies and a four-admin-center external collaboration surface. Candidates who have never provisioned a phone number or built an auto attendant also find the Teams Phone objectives unfamiliar.
Is the MS-700 exam changing in 2026?
A refreshed skills outline takes effect July 29, 2026, and it is a light revision. The official change log grades three objective groups Minor (security and compliance settings, meetings and events, monitor and report) and everything else No change, including the audience profile. The four domains and their weights are unchanged, so study material for the current outline stays largely valid.
What is on the MS-700 exam?
Four domains: configure and manage a Teams environment (40 to 45 percent), manage teams, channels, chats, and apps (20 to 25 percent), manage meetings and calling (15 to 20 percent), and monitor, report on, and troubleshoot Teams (15 to 20 percent). The outline names Network planner, Teams Rooms, Teams for VDI, policy packages, shared channels, B2B direct connect, webinars, town halls, auto attendants, call queues and Microsoft 365 Copilot meeting settings verbatim.
How many questions are on the MS-700 exam?
Microsoft does not publish an official question count for MS-700. It does publish a passing score of 700, the exam page allots 100 minutes for the assessment, and a free official practice assessment is available on Microsoft Learn. Treat any site quoting an exact question count as unofficial, and confirm details on the exam page when you schedule.
Does MS-700 have prerequisites?
No exam is a prerequisite for MS-700. The audience profile expects familiarity with Microsoft 365 workloads, Entra ID and basic PowerShell. The certification it earns matters beyond itself: Teams Administrator Associate is one of four associate certifications that qualify you for the Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert credential once you also pass the MS-102 exam.
Is the MS-700 certification worth it?
For working Microsoft 365 administrators, yes. Teams is where most US organizations live all day, Teams Phone skills are scarce enough to command a premium, and the credential renews free every 12 months with an online renewal assessment. Associate exams typically cost US$165 in the United States. It also opens the Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert path.
