- What is Exam DP-900?
- DP-900 is Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals. It is a beginner-level exam that earns the Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals certification. It costs $99 in the United States, has no prerequisite, and is not retired: its certification page carries no retirement notice.
- What are the DP-900 domain weights?
- Four domains. Describe core data concepts is 25 to 30 percent. Describe an analytics workload on Azure is also 25 to 30 percent. Identify considerations for relational data on Azure is 20 to 25 percent. Describe considerations for working with non-relational data on Azure is the smallest at 15 to 20 percent.
- Is Azure Synapse still on DP-900?
- No. Azure Synapse Analytics appears zero times in the current DP-900 skills outline. The large-scale analytics bullet now reads "Describe Microsoft cloud services for large-scale analytics, including Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric." Synapse was the anchor of this domain for years, and study material that still leads with it is out of date.
- How much does the DP-900 exam cost?
- $99 USD in the United States, confirmed in Microsoft's own published exam pricing feed. That is the standard fundamentals price, the same as AZ-900 and SC-900. Price varies by the country or region in which the exam is proctored, and tax may be added at checkout.
- Is DP-900 changing in July 2026?
- A refreshed objectives version takes effect on July 21, 2026. Microsoft's change log marks all four functional groups as "No change" and three sub-skills as "Minor": ways to represent data, capabilities of Azure storage, and considerations for real-time data analytics. No weight moved and no domain was renamed.
- Is DP-900 hard?
- It is the lightest Microsoft fundamentals exam by content volume. Its entire skills section is about 331 words, the shortest of any Microsoft exam we have measured. Every objective starts with describe or identify, so nothing requires hands-on work in the portal. Most people prepare for it in a week or two.
- How many questions are on the DP-900 exam and how long is it?
- Microsoft publishes no question count for DP-900 and does not print a duration on its exam page. Its general guidance is that most exams contain 40 to 60 questions, and its exam-type table allots fundamentals exams 45 minutes of exam time inside 65 minutes of seat time. Any exact DP-900 question count you see quoted was invented.
- Should I take DP-900 or DP-203?
- DP-900. DP-203 was retired on March 31, 2025 and can no longer be taken, although dumps sites still sell question banks for it. DP-900 is live. If you want the data engineering role after it, the current associate exam is DP-700 for Microsoft Fabric.
