What formats does PDFQuiz export?

Downloads cover both the quiz itself and what comes back after students take it. For the quiz, Plus and higher offer PDF and editable Microsoft Word downloads with a separate answer key, plus Quizlet tab-separated flashcards. An Anki text file is also available. Pro and higher add question CSV, Canvas QTI 1.2, QTI 2.1, Moodle GIFT, and Kahoot .xlsx in the quiz list download menu. QTI includes choice questions only; GIFT includes all six types with explanations as feedback. Kahoot uses its template layout for choice questions, with questions cut to 120 characters, answers to 75, and up to 4 answers. For the results, there is a marked script per student and a scores list for the whole class as PDFs, plus a CSV of participant scores from the results dashboard on Pro and higher. The tab-separated file is the one people underuse. Because it opens cleanly in Excel, it is the starting point for any LMS that accepts a delimited bulk upload, which is how you get a hundred questions into a course without touching a question editor a hundred times.

How do I get the questions into my LMS?

Download Canvas QTI 1.2, QTI 2.1, or Moodle GIFT from the quiz list menu on Pro and higher, then use the matching importer in your LMS. QTI includes choice questions only; GIFT includes all six types. Your LMS owns delivery, grading, and the gradebook. For D2L and Schoology, test one quiz first.

What PDFQuiz does

  • Reads your PDF, slides, notes, or Word document and writes the questions, the distractors, and the correct answers.
  • Gives you multiple choice, true or false, fill in the blank, matching, and open questions, at entry, standard, or advanced difficulty.
  • Downloads as PDF and editable Word with a separate answer key on Plus and higher, plus Anki text. Pro and higher add Canvas QTI 1.2, QTI 2.1, Moodle GIFT, and Kahoot exports.
  • Runs the quiz online too, with per-question timers, shuffled question order, and automatic grading, if you would rather not use an LMS at all.

What it does not do

  • Export SCORM or Moodle XML packages. Moodle GIFT is the supported Moodle format.
  • Publish into your LMS over an integration. The PDFQuiz API is read-only and returns invitee results, so it cannot push a quiz into a course.
  • Sync grades back to your gradebook. There is no LMS write back, so grades are entered from the exported results.
  • Build a Google Form for you. The Form is assembled in Google's editor.

It is worth being honest about the arithmetic, because the import question is usually a proxy for a time question. PDFQuiz drafts the questions and offers LMS import files on Pro and higher. Review each question before exporting, then check the imported quiz in your LMS before it reaches students.

How do I export quiz results?

On Pro and higher, the results dashboard gives you a CSV of participant scores for your spreadsheet. It includes name, email, score percent, pass status, finish time, tab switches, paste events and the original score if adjusted. Results also export as PDF. The whole-class PDF lists every person you invited with their email, the date they took the quiz and their score. The single-student PDF is a marked script with their score as a percentage, then every question with the answer they actually gave. The marked script lives on the individual attempt rather than on the quiz.

The results dashboard on Pro and higher exports participant scores as CSV, ready to open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. The separate question CSV export on Pro and higher holds the questions, types, per question time limits and answer options, with the correct answers marked. On Elite, you can send results to a learning record store through xAPI, receive a signed webhook when participants finish a quiz and access results through the API. There is no automatic gradebook write back, so check how your student information system accepts the results CSV.

Export support and limitations

Export pages tend to list every format a tool could plausibly reach and stay quiet about the rest. This table distinguishes supported exports from formats that still need another route.

Can I export a quiz to Canvas?

Yes. On Pro and higher, choose Canvas (QTI) from the quiz list download menu to get a QTI 1.2 .zip in the layout Canvas itself exports. In Canvas, go to Settings > Import Course Content > QTI .zip file. Use Classic Quizzes or select Import existing quizzes as New Quizzes. The package includes multiple choice, true or false, and multiple answer questions, worth 1 point each, with explanations as general feedback. Fill in the blank, matching, and open ended questions are not included.

Can I export a quiz to Moodle?

Yes. On Pro and higher, choose Moodle GIFT from the quiz list download menu, then import the UTF-8 text file into the Moodle question bank using GIFT format. It includes multiple choice, multiple answer with partial credit, true or false, fill in the blank as short answer, matching, and open ended as essay, with explanations as feedback. PDFQuiz does not produce Moodle XML.

Does PDFQuiz export QTI or SCORM?

PDFQuiz exports Canvas QTI 1.2 and QTI 2.1 .zip packages from the quiz list download menu on Pro and higher. They include multiple choice, true or false, and multiple answer questions only, leaving out fill in the blank, matching, and open ended questions. SCORM is not produced.

How do I get the questions into Blackboard?

On Pro and higher, download QTI 2.1 from the quiz list menu and use the Blackboard QTI importer. The package includes multiple choice, true or false, and multiple answer questions only. A tab-separated download is also available if you prefer to arrange a TXT bulk upload.

Can I export the answer key separately?

Yes. On Plus and higher, questions and answers are separate downloads in both PDF and Word. Print the question sheet for students and keep the key, or download only the key when you are grading a paper test by hand.

Can I edit a quiz after exporting it?

Yes, and the Word export exists for exactly that. Reword a stem, swap a distractor, or delete an item in Word, then print or paste from there. You can also edit questions inside PDFQuiz before downloading and export again as many times as you need.

Is there a watermark on exports?

The demo gives a watermarked export and a sampled Anki deck. Plus and higher export clean PDF and Word files with no watermark.

How do I export quiz results?

On Pro and higher, download participant scores as CSV from the results dashboard. It contains name, email, score percent, pass status, finish time, tab switches, paste events and the original score if adjusted. Results also export as PDF. The all-invitee PDF lists every person you invited with their email, the date they took it and their score. The single-taker PDF is one student's full marked script with their score as a percentage and every question with the answer they gave.

Can I export quiz scores to Excel?

Yes. On Pro and higher, the results dashboard provides a CSV of participant scores that opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. The separate question CSV export contains questions, types, per question time limits and answer options, with the correct answers marked. Results also export as PDF.

Does PDFQuiz export an .apkg Anki file?

No. The Anki export is a tab-separated .txt file, not a packaged .apkg deck. You import it through Anki's File then Import dialog, mapping the first column to Front and the second to Back. It takes about fifteen seconds and it also means the same file opens in Excel, which .apkg does not.

Can I export a quiz to Google Forms?

There is no Google Forms export. Google Forms has no bulk question import of its own, so any tool offering this is scripting the Forms API behind the scenes. The practical route is to open the Word export beside a blank form and paste each question, or to use the PDF as the assignment itself.
