What formats does PDFQuiz export?
Seven downloads in total, split between the quiz itself and what comes back after students take it. For the quiz: a PDF for printing or posting as an assignment, an editable Microsoft Word document for when you want to reword an item, a tab-separated text file that imports into Anki or any SRS app that reads plain text, and a question CSV on the Elite plan. For the results: a marked script per student and a scores list for the whole class. Everything below is what the product actually produces, with no roadmap items mixed in.

The tab-separated file is the one people underuse. Because it opens cleanly in Excel, it is the starting point for any LMS that accepts a delimited bulk upload, which is how you get a hundred questions into a course without touching a question editor a hundred times.
How do I get the questions into my LMS?
Through your platform's question editor, or through the plain-text bulk upload it already supports. PDFQuiz writes the questions and the answer key; your LMS owns delivery, grading, and the gradebook. Each row below is the shortest working route on that platform, not a promise of a one-click import.

Where the time actually goes
What PDFQuiz does
- Reads your PDF, slides, notes, or Word document and writes the questions, the distractors, and the correct answers.
- Gives you multiple choice, true or false, fill in the blank, matching, and open questions, at entry, standard, or advanced difficulty.
- Downloads as PDF, editable Word, and a tab-separated Anki file, with the answer key kept separate.
- Runs the quiz online too, with per-question timers, shuffled question order, and automatic grading, if you would rather not use an LMS at all.
What it does not do
- Export QTI, SCORM, or Moodle XML packages.
- Publish into your LMS over an integration. The PDFQuiz API is read-only and returns invitee results, so it cannot push a quiz into a course.
- Sync grades back to your gradebook. There is no LMS write back, so grades are entered from the exported results.
- Build a Google Form for you. The Form is assembled in Google's editor.
It is worth being honest about the arithmetic, because the import question is usually a proxy for a time question. Writing one good multiple choice item with plausible distractors takes an experienced instructor several minutes. Pasting a finished item into a question editor takes a few seconds. The step PDFQuiz removes is the expensive one, and the step it leaves you is the cheap one, which is also the step where you would review each question before it reaches students anyway.
How do I export quiz results?
Two downloads, both PDF. The whole-class file lists every person you invited with their email, the date they took the quiz and their score, and that is the one to pull when you are filling in a gradebook. The single-student file is a marked script: their score as a percentage, then every question with the answer they actually gave. Most people miss the second one because it lives on the individual attempt rather than on the quiz.

One limitation worth stating plainly, because it decides whether this fits your workflow: scores come out as PDF only. There is no scores spreadsheet. The CSV download on the Elite plan holds the questions, with their type, per-question time and answer options, not anybody's marks. If your department requires a CSV of results to feed a student information system, you would be copying those numbers across by hand, and that is worth knowing before you build a term around it.
What PDFQuiz will not export
Export pages tend to list every format a tool could plausibly reach and stay quiet about the rest. This is the other half of the table, so you can rule us out in thirty seconds if one of these is a hard requirement. Several competing generators do ship some of these, and where that is true it is said here.

If a one-click QTI package is genuinely the deciding factor, pick a tool that builds one. What you would be trading away is the part that costs real hours, which is writing plausible distractors from your own chapter rather than pulling generic items from a shared bank. For most instructors the questions are the bottleneck and the paste is not, but that is a judgement about your own course, not one this page should make for you. Frequently asked questions
What formats can I export a quiz to?
Four for the quiz itself: a PDF, an editable Microsoft Word document, a tab-separated text file that imports into Anki or any SRS app that reads plain text, and a question CSV on the Elite plan. Can I export a quiz to Canvas?
Not as a file. Canvas imports questions natively only from a QTI package, and PDFQuiz does not build one, so the route into Canvas is the quiz editor: open a new quiz, paste each question with its four options, and mark the correct answer. Instructure states plainly that a program which does not create QTI files cannot be imported into Canvas.
Can I export a quiz to Moodle?
There is no Moodle XML export, but Moodle has the friendliest bulk path of any major LMS. It imports GIFT, Aiken, and Moodle XML plain text, so you can lay the downloaded questions out in GIFT format in a text editor and import a whole bank as one file. Save it as UTF-8, which is the step that breaks most Moodle imports.
Does PDFQuiz export QTI or SCORM?
No. Neither format is produced. If a one-click QTI or SCORM package is a hard requirement for your course build, PDFQuiz is the wrong tool for that last step and it is better to know now. What it does is write the questions, distractors, and answer key from your own document, which is the part that actually takes hours.
How do I get the questions into Blackboard?
Blackboard reads a tab-delimited TXT bulk upload, and the PDFQuiz text export is already tab separated, so this is a spreadsheet job rather than manual re-entry. Open the download in Excel, rearrange the columns into Blackboard's expected order, save as tab-delimited TXT, and upload it to the question pool.
Can I export the answer key separately?
Yes. Questions and answers are separate downloads, in both PDF and Word. Print the question sheet for students and keep the key, or download only the key when you are grading a paper test by hand.
Can I edit a quiz after exporting it?
Yes, and the Word export exists for exactly that. Reword a stem, swap a distractor, or delete an item in Word, then print or paste from there. You can also edit questions inside PDFQuiz before downloading and export again as many times as you need.
Is there a watermark on exports?
Free accounts get a watermarked export and a sampled Anki deck. Paid plans export clean files with no watermark, and the Word export is on the paid plans.
How do I export quiz results?

Can I export quiz scores to Excel?
Not directly. Scores come out as PDF only, so getting them into a spreadsheet means retyping or copying out of the PDF. The CSV download is a different thing: it contains the questions, types, per-question time and answer options, not anybody's scores. If a scores CSV is critical to your workflow, know that before you commit.
Does PDFQuiz export an .apkg Anki file?
No. The Anki export is a tab-separated .txt file, not a packaged .apkg deck. You import it through Anki's File then Import dialog, mapping the first column to Front and the second to Back. It takes about fifteen seconds and it also means the same file opens in Excel, which .apkg does not.
Can I export a quiz to Google Forms?
There is no Google Forms export. Google Forms has no bulk question import of its own, so any tool offering this is scripting the Forms API behind the scenes. The practical route is to open the Word export beside a blank form and paste each question, or to use the PDF as the assignment itself.
